The firm was started in New York City in 1930, specializing in litigation and criminal defense work. Additionally, substantial appellate work, in both the civil and criminal fields, was added as the firm earned, through many newsworthy cases and outstanding legal victories, not only a following of a diverse clientele in the State of New York and in the Metropolitan New York Area, but also garnered the respect of the New York Bar as reflected in the many cases referred to the firm by other attorneys. In the 1960s, awareness of the firm began to spread nationally and internationally, establishing corresponding offices in Rome, Italy, Montreal, Canada, then San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Zurich and Bahamas.
